My 44-year span as a practitioner of project management has had its stressful points. I’ve always been able to find the bright side of every assignment and the good sides of the people with whom I have dealt. For this reason, and in light of the fact that George Pitagorsky, PMP, and I worked with a mutual client several years ago, I find myself drawn to Pitagorsky’s first book.
The essence of Pitagorsky’s The Zen Approach to Project Management lies in one’s self-awareness and confidence that a project is seen objectively and is worked in a professional manner. We recognize that projects cause negative emotions or stress. These issues must be addressed, lest they break the participants in an emotional sense. Burnout occurs on many projects as the stakeholders react to the demands of inevitable changes.
